The Church Today
Today, the Rush Hill Community Church is going strong. The Lord has blessed this church with many loving and Christ-serving families.
The average Sunday attendance is about 80 with more than 30-35 children participating in Sunday school and youth group. Growth in the church lead to the need for expansion. In the spring of 2004, the church voted to build a new wing onto the existing church to the south that included a new kitchen and fellowship hall to accommodate 150 people, five new classrooms, several storage rooms and three bathrooms. Construction began in the summer of 2004 with Jack Cutforth Builders constructing the outside of the building. The inside (classrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, etc.) was completed by the church family. In 2005, Vacation Bible School was held for the first time in the new fellowship hall. The new building was dedicated to the Lord’s service during the September 2005 homecoming celebration.
Many events have been held in the new addition since then including the annual Turkey Supper and Bazaar and the Christmas program. In addition, new events such as a winter volleyball league and monthly soup and card party nights have been enjoyed. Fund raising for this addition has been remarkable. Pastor The Rush Hill Community Church is an independent non-denominational church.
In 2001 Bob Stanford was hired and licensed by the Rush Hill Community Church and serves as Pastor today.
Church Women
The Rush Hill Church Women’s organization dates back to the early years of the church. The tradition of service to God and His people continues today. Meetings are held at the church on the third Wednesday of the months of September, October, December, March, April and May and include a business meeting and devotion. Their two main fundraisers include the annual Turkey Supper and Bazaar and apple butter making which goes toward the financial support of the church and various missions. Some of their special activities include making Christmas plates for the area senior citizens, hosting Easter breakfast, Operation Shoe Box, a card ministry and providing bereavement support for church families in their times of need.
Pastor’s Note
What a blessing it has been to serve the Rush Hill Community Church as pastor. The unusual part is that this church is my home church. This was the church that I grew up in, was baptized and married in. You never know what God will call you to do. We must be willing to turn our lives over to Him and to say ‘use me God’. Then, if we let God take over and use us we will see blessings come in. I love the church and this community and pray that God will continue to bless the work done here in His will.
If you do not have a church home, we invite you to come visit and worship with us. Pastor Bob Stanford
